Angle steel or Angle Iron is the most basic type of roll formed steel. They are formed by bending a single angle in a piece of steel. Angle steel is L shaped most commonly found at 90-degree angles, the flanges of the angle iron can be equal in length or unequal in length. Framing is the most common use of angle steel, but they have also been known to be sued for brackets, trims, and reinforcements. The larger the steel angle the more weight and stress is can bear without fail.
Angle steel is used in the construction of furniture, chairs, beds, tables, and buildings. Angle steel is used to create a basic structure while other pieces of metal is used to finish it. This gives is strength and stability to withstand multiple types of stress in different applications. The use of angle steel in construction is to stabilize the entire structure, it will not bend break or bow, and add reinforcement in two separate directions, angle steel is easy to apply and can welded or bolted to apply additional support. The thickness of the angle steel will determine which job is can be suited toward. Smaller or thinner pieces are normally used for jobs where the pressure and stress is minimal, larger pieces or used on walls or support beams of building that must constantly bear massive amount of weight.
