Prestressed concrete wire or more commonly known as PC wire is high grade low relaxation wire used to counter the low tension of concrete. It is made from high carbon steel with high tensile strength, is must be met to exact standards because of its use within high stress environments such as bridges, commercial buildings, stadiums, cement poles, and many more. When used in concrete it may be left uncoated but, in the event, that it will be exposed to the elements it must be coated with an epoxy or galvanized similar to rebar. Depending on the application that it is used in it may have an outer finish of smooth, nickeled, or ribbed. PC wire, also called PC steel wire, is made of carbon steel and used in concrete structures.
